Letter from John Maitland, Excise Office to Joseph Black, dated 9 October 1782. The letter is about a poor student and is addressed in the first instance to John Thomson, secretary of excise, Fisherrow. There is also on the same document a draft letter by Black about a drug sold as soluble tartar but containing corraine sublimate.
