Letter from Archibald Cochrane, Lord Dundonald, Culross Abbey to Joseph Black, dated 17 February 1786 and draft reply from Joseph Black to Archibald Cochrane, undated. The first letter is about salt refining. Cochrane suggests that Black, with Adam Smith, Peter Millar and Professor John Robison might inspect his works. Black's reply makes excuses for Adam Smith, John Robison and himself.
