Photograph of Great Temple at Abu Simbel, Nubia, built by Rameses 2nd at 1580 B.C. The figures are statues of him & his hieroglyphic is on the area of the Statue & above the God & on each side of the door. The height of each figure is about 80 ft [24.38m]. Mrs John Shaw Smith [Mary Louisa Smith] sitting at foot of nearest figure of Rameses II. [The note regarding Mrs John Shaw Smith was written in a different hand]
