Letter to James Cossar Ewart from Carl Hagenbeck (incomplete), 27 February 1902
Scope and Contents
Hagenbeck states that the two foals and the mare will be shipped aboard the S.S Coblenz, along with the skin of the young Przewalski's horse. He advises Ewart on how best to look after them when they arrive. A similar pair of Przewalski's horses are being sent to Walter Rothschild, but will be kept at the London Zoological Gardens. He goes on to describe the colouring of some of the animals in his possession. He wishes to buy the Shetland mare from Ewart to give to his grandchildren.
The latter part of the letter is not present.
