Scope and Contents
Correspondence between Norman Dott and Charles Putnam Symonds, dated 1969-1972. The correspondence mainly relates to Symonds' projected writings on his professional life and on the Sixth Sir Hugh Cairns Memorial Lecture, which he gave in September 1970 (see Coll-32/F.104), but also other professional matters, and social and personal exchanges. It includes interesting reminiscences of Harvey Cushing, Hugh Cairns, Sir Geoffrey Jefferson, etc. and the development of neurosurgery in the United Kingdom; and a typescript copy of Symonds' lecture with manuscript corrections in Symonds' and Dott's hands.
