Letter to James Cossar Ewart from Reginald Innes Pocock, 04 October 1917

 Item
Identifier: Coll-14/9/23/9

Scope and Contents

Pocock writes that the only specimens of long and fat-tailed sheep that he knows of in England are at Woburn. He is afraid Ewart will never get hold of an Ovis poli or Ovis ammon, as the Zoological Society has only had one in the course of its history and they are practically unobtainable. He asks whether Ewart could make do with Ovis vignei, as all the Asiatic sheep are very close. He offers to run a Vignei ram with some 'Soa' ewes if Ewart sends them.
