Meteor Trails, c. 1946-1950

This sub-series consists of 15 files relating to Edward Appleton’s research into meteor trails. Appleton's chief publications on this topic were the collaborative papers with R. Naismith, 'Radar detection of meteor trails’, Nature, 158, 28 December 1946, and 'The radio detection of meteor trails and allied phenomena', Proceedings of the Physical Society, 59, 1947. Appleton's own notes and drafts appear at Coll-37/C.222-C.226 and correspondence and data from colleagues are at Coll-37/C.227-C.236.
