Scope and Contents
These are three short extracts from the Tārīkh al-duwal of al-Fakhr al-Rāzī, by al-Shaykh Abū al-Faraj ‘Abd al-Raḥmān b. ‘Alī al-Jūzī (d. 577 A.H., 1181 C.E.). It contains:
- Account of the great Khalīfah Hārūn al-Rashīd, the fifth of the line of ‘Abbās, who died, after a reign of 23 years, on the 3rd Jumādá II, 193 A.H. (the 24th March, 809 C.E.), fols. 1-16.
- The ministry of his Wazīr, Yaḥyā b. Khālid al-Barmakī, fols. 16-33.
- Sketch of Al-Faḍl b. Yaḥyā al-Barmakī, fols. 33-46.
- Account of Ja‘far b. Yaḥyā al-Barmakī, fols. 46-63.
- The fall of Banū Barmak, fols. 63-65.
- The causes of their fall, fols. 65-68.
- The murder of Ja‘far b. Yaḥyā, at the age of 28 years, on the 1st Ṣafar, 187 A.H. (the 29th January, 803 C.E.).
- The ministry of Abū al-‘Abbās al-Faḍl b. al-Rabī‘ah, fols. 72-74
