فتوح ابن اعثم Futūḥ-i Ibn A‘s̱am, undated copy (original text composed 10th cent. C.E.)
Scope and Contents
A history of the early caliphs, this work was originally written in Arabic by Khwājah Aḥmad b. al-A'tham al-Kūfī (d. c. 314 A.H., 926 C.E.). It covers events from the election of Abū Bakr to the death of Ḥusayn b. 'Alī.
This work, which is known also under the name of the Tārīkh-i khulafā-i rāshidīn, was rendered into Persian in 596 A.H., 1199 C.E., by Muḥammad b. Aḥmad al-Mustawfī al-Harawī, at the desire of his patron, a Wazīr in Khwārazm and Khurāsān, who is mentioned by honorific titles only.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
Bequeathed to the University of Edinburgh Library by David Anderson in 1828, entered the library in 1834.
Physical Description
The present copy is bound in plain leather, the cover having a gilt frame. There is one vertical crack on the spine. The text block is in good condition but lacks the final folio.
