Scope and Contents

A history of the early caliphs, this work was originally written in Arabic by Khwājah Aḥmad b. al-A'tham al-Kūfī (d. c. 314 A.H., 926 C.E.). It covers events from the election of Abū Bakr to the reign of Ḥasan b. 'Alī.

This work, which is known also under the name of the Tārīkh-i khulafā-i rāshidīn, was rendered into Persian in 596 A.H., 1199 C.E., by Muḥammad b. Aḥmad al-Mustawfī al-Harawī, at the desire of his patron, a Wazīr in Khwārazm and Khurāsān, who is mentioned by honorific titles only.

The present copy has imperfect headings, the first folio is badly injured and last two or three are missing.
