[Linlithgow Palace]. Pen and ink wash. 16 September 1842. White, Adam, 1817-1879, Artist.
Note: Ink annotations: 'Linlithgow Palace West aspect. Sept 16 (Friday) 1842 / Linlithgow Palace S. aspect sketched hurredly at 6 o'clock Sept 16, 1842. / [on s. façade] x windows filled up marks of gable of a riding school / [on stonework] renewed at considerable expense to keep the tower from falling / [mem?] in Blore's view the church tower never could have been drawn in 1823 / James Glassford & his brother sons of a writer, fine open boys of over 10. Mr Dick & a Waterloo man named Armour whose nose was sadly marred by a sabre cut. That night Provost Dawson was to get a glass of toddy at the town hall for his conduct on the Queen's visit'.
