The correspondence between Charles Lyell and Edward Hitchcock is mainly concerned with geology, specifically sandstone footprints. - 'Prof[essor] Hitchcock rec[eive]d Nov[ember] 21 1860 Footmark sandstone White limestone of H. Virginia'. This letter is concerned with the current geological and academic pursuits of Hitchcock's sons. 30 August 1860.
