Scope and Contents
Lyell summarises as:
1) 'Mr Strickland May 4 1839. On Newer Plio. shells of Cropthorne & shells in gravel near Worcester. Oliva & Bulla ampulla, Moel Tryfane - shells'. Strickland sends specimens of shells to Lyell and describes the ones he does not have duplicates for, explaining he will bring them to London soon.
2) 'Strickland on superficial subsidence of gravel over Lias. 1839'. Strickland declines an offer from Lyell to recommend him as the next Chair of Geology in King’s College, before describing the phenomenon in Lias, and includes a small sketch.
