Letters relating to Lyell's Kinnordy Estate, written from Lochmill and Kirriemuir. Letter to William Grant by author concerning a 'Summons of Removing' and the re-letting of Lockmill; Concern over the 'Summons of Removing' and offering to up-date the property in return for him and his family being allowed to remain the tenants; Letter to Robert Forrest from William Grant expressing similar terms as in the letter to Lyell; Informing Lyell of the 'Summons of Removing' author served on the tenant and a copy of his reply to Grant; Informing Lyell that it is simply to work out a new agreement with the tenant, as the rent of £15pm is too low for the property and £25pm would still be moderate; Letter to Robert Forrest from William Grant informing him the he has notified Lyell of the situation and expects the Board of Trustees of Kinnordy to solve the issue; Informing Lyell of the contradictions between Grant's version of events and the author's own; Informing Lyell of previous under-handed dealings regarding the renting of Lockmill when owned by the Ogilvy's.
