Scope and Contents

This series includes two series of bulletins published by the NDS (And So to Sew and And So to Embroider) and their original envelopes, pamphlets and leaflets, an NDS order form, and two NDS folded posters.

  1. NDS sewing bulletins And So to Sew, issue no. 1 , and issues no. 1a to 26a. Also includes a green original envelope/folder for the bulletins.
  2. NDS embroidery bulletins And So to Sew, issue issues no. 1b to 28b (except for missing issues 26b and 29b), and issues no. 30 to 39 (except for missing issues no. 32 and 33). Issues no. 1b to 6b are entitled And So to Sew - Embroidery section. Also includes two original envelopes/folders for the bulletins, orange and yellow.
  3. NDS pamphlets: pamphlet entitled A Background to Needlework, another one entitled And So to Sew, leaflet on an "Exhibition of NDS Contemporary Needlework Design arranged by Nicholson Brothers, London" in October-November 1957, and a pamphlet simply entitled Needlework Development Scheme with a note saying it belonged to famous embroiderer Dorothy Allsop.
  4. NDS order form for NDS bulletins and NDS books.
  5. Two NDS folded posters.
