Theodor Benfey (1809-1881), oriental scholar, 1 card, 3 letters, 2 small fragments with numbers.
- Card 1: undated. Announcement of lectures on Sanskrit grammar and the interpretation of the 7th Mandala of Rigveda.
- Letter 1: 07 April 1862. Benfey asks his publisher for outstanding payments for his work.
- Letter 2: 27 February 1867. Benfey seeks permission from Prof. Wöhler to present a paper on Indo-Germanic verbs to the Royal Society of Sciences, Göttingen.
- Letter 3: 29.3.1872. Benfey thanks a colleague for sending him his work on the Rigveda.
- Fragments: 2 fragments, one containing the number 29, the other containing the number 15.
Notes by Alfred Stumpff: Short biographical information, physical descriptions of the letters, information about the purchase of the letters. Also a discussion about the possible recipient of letter 3. Stumpff argues it is Max Müller. A description of two portraits of Benfey, which are not included in this file.
