Scope and Contents

Karl Hadank (1882-1945), orientalist, Autograph Letter Signed, 1912.

2 letters.
- Letter 1: 21 June 1912. Hadank (a teacher) complains to Johannes Volkelt, a professor at the university of Leipzig, about an article he has written for his school's annual report having been censored and removed for sexual content. He states that it was an academic discourse and not lewd, but has been reprimanded and ordered to pay printing costs that the city government would normally bear. He asks Volkelt to confirm that it is an academic discourse, and not lewd.
- Letter 2: 9 April 1912. A manuscript copy made by Hadank of the school governing body's judgement against him.

Notes by Alfred Stumpff: Physical description of the letter and the copy, purchasing information. Long biographical information on Hadank and his wife. Publication lists for Karl and Gertrud Hadank, and their addresses.
