- July 1829, London. Rosen writes to Sir Graves Haughton. He expresses his plan to use the italic script to write Sanskrit words instead of Devanagari characters in his forthcoming edition of the Rigveda. He gives detailed reasoning for this decision: he believes that it will be more economical and better suited to European readers.
