This is a typed letter signed from cellist, composer and conductor Pablo Casals to Professor Sidney T. Newman, Carr. Isla Verde, porto Rico, 12 January 1962. In it, Casals is thanking him for his letter and "birthday wishes... I am deeply grateful to you. I hold wonderful memories of my visits to you, and the concerts with your orchestra, and the many more activities that associated me with your great University. I am greatly honored to be one of your Honorary Doctors. I still hope that I may be with you some day. With my heartfelt thanks and good wishes to you, the Faculty of Music, and to the Reid Orchestra..."
