Robert and Sarah Simonds, 1962-1997
Scope and Contents
This folder contains the letters of Robert Simonds (Yale) and Sarah Simonds (Cornell), met and befriended by Irene J. Young when they were on a school exchange at George Watson's College, Edinburgh, in 1961-62 and when they attended Mayfield Church. The letters express thanks for the hospitality of Irene J. Young and Reginald Brown as well as later condolences after the death of Samuel Young (Irene's father) and later Agathe Young (Irene's grandmother), to which Robert attached a typed extract from Tacitus' Agricola. They write about literature, gifted books received from Irene J. Young and with family updates, a retirement card for Reginald Brown, and career updates.
