Roźa Niedźwiedź, 1948-1974

This folder contains the letters of Roźa Niedźwiedź, a Polish exile whom Irene had tutored in English towards the end of the war, who became one of Irene's closest friends. In the folder, a note from Iain Gordon Brown explains that Roźa was Jewish and lost members of her family in concentration camps. She took a second degree at Edinburgh. Roźa's post-war career was varied. Ultimately she became assistant to the economic adviser to Rio Tinto Zinc. Roźa became a naturalized British subject as Rosalie Nelson. She died late in 1974 or early in 1975.
