File entitled "scientific career", 1932-2001
Scope and Contents
This folder contains papers relating to Dr Gilbert Young Kennedy (1916-2000), Irene J. Young's only cousin. Dr Gilbert Young Kennedy, known in the family as "Bunt", was a biochemist, but was also a noted semi-professional musician and organist, a talented actor, and a gardener. Description of the folder written by Iain Gordon Brown: "They were especially close during the Second World War, when Gilbert's first wife left him and Irene's first husband was posted missing in action. When Irene was at Bletchley Park she would sometimes spend leave with Gilbert near Salisbury, at one or other of the Wiltshire cottages he rented when he was working at Porton Down, the secret Chemical Warfare research establishment."
