Scope and Contents
Manuscript fragment, with two sections of text, author unknown. The first section begins with a copy of an extract from John Gibson Lockhart's Peter's Letters to his Kinsfolk. Content centres on Walter Scott, and begins 'His manners are simple [and] unassuming...'.
Second section of text describes the landscape and scenery on the approach to Abbotsford. Two illustrative engravings are pasted in. The first engraving shows Abbotsford, drawn by R. Westall and engraved by Edward Finden, c 1829. The second engraving is shows the ruins of Melrose Abbey, drawn by A. Nasmyth and engraved by W. H. Lizars, c 1800.
