Biographical / Historical

Roslin Institute's financial management was overseen by the Audit Committee appointed by the Governing Council. The Financial Controller was supported by an Accounts Officer who dealt with the accounting system and allocation of core funding. There were also cost clerks, purchase ledger clerks, a cashier and a Contracts Manager. The annual budget was made up from known and anticipated contracts and other sources of income, together with expected expenditure, and was updated automatically throughout the year as details of additional contracts became known. Overhead expenditure was absorbed by projects and calculated using the Resource Management and Accounting System (RMAS).
