Biographical / Historical

The remit of the BBSRC Institute Management Committee (known as the AFRC Management Committee until April 1994) was to ensure the efficient, effective and economic administration of the institutes supported by BBSRC through the development and implementation of policies and systems for financial, human and property resources. It also liaised on human resources issues for the five Scottish Agricultural and Biological Research Institutes, of which Roslin was one. The Committee aimed to meet at least four times a year and reported directly to the BBSRC Planning and Resources Board. The Committee's membership was made up of representatives from all BBSRC-supported institutes. Until March 1996, the Committee membership was predominantly institute secretaries; after this point membership altered to institute directors and various BBSRC office directors, chaired by the BBSRC Chief Executive.
