Biographical / Historical

BBSRC recognised that some of its institutes may have entered into contractual obligations which assigned or licensed Intellectual Property (IP) without authority, as IP belonged to BBSRC itself and not individual institutes. This posed the risk of contracts being challenged and IP licensed or assigned to third parties being rendered invalid. In an attempt to overcome this, BBSRC suggested that Institutes should enter into a Deed of Co-ownership with BBSRC, and a Working Group was established to review this proposal.
