Biographical / Historical

The outbreak took place in March 2000 when a three-year old dairy cow was diagnosed with Theileria annulata on Blythbank farm. 27 further cases were later discovered. An investigation was carried out into the cause of the outbreak, which concluded the likely accidental contaimination or re-use of materials and equipment on the farm which had previously been used in a study on the disease.
