Biographical / Historical
Alexander Falconer Giles was Deputy Secretary of the University of Edinburgh, as well as Reader in Ancient Greek and Roman History. He was a close personal and professional friend of Thomson's, and the Thomson and Giles families spent Christmas together on more than one occasion.
Giles' son, Sandy, was a close personal friend of Hector Thomson.
