Working materials (typescripts, manuscripts, proofs, notes, index slips) for publications by James Clarkson Corson, including: A Bibliography of Sir Walter Scott (Oliver and Boyd, 1943); William Gell’s Reminiscences of Sir Walter Scott's residence in Italy, 1832, ed. Corson (Nelson, 1957); Notes and Index to Sir Herbert Grierson’s Edition of The Letters of Sir Walter Scott (Clarendon Press, 1979); Miscellaneous articles and lectures by Corson.

There are also materials for the following publications to which Corson contributed: The History of the University of Edinburgh 1883-1933, ed. A. Logan Turner (Edinburgh: Oliver and Boyd, 1933: biographical notes by Corson); John Knox's History of the Reformation in Scotland (Thomas Nelson, 1949: indexed by Corson); D. W. Grieve’s English Course for Secondary Schools, Bk 3 (Thomas Nelson, 195-?: indexed by Corson).

This series also includes working materials for the following works that were commissioned by publishers but remained unpublished: The Thomas Nelson Edition of the Waverley Novels (series editor: Corson); Walter Scott: The Critical Heritage (Routledge).

Routledge eventually published an entirely different text on Scott in the 'Critical Heritage' series by John O. Hayden (1970).
