Scope and Contents
This is William Fowler's translation of Petrarch's Triumph. It also contains: "A dedication by Fowler to Jean Fleming, Lady Thirlestaine ; a sonnet to the author by James VI ; A sonnet in praise of Fowler, possibly by his aunt, Jean Drummond ; A sonnet by E.D. "in comendation of the author and his choice" ; A sonnet in "Mr Wm. foulars comendation" by Robert Hundson ; A sonnet "in commendation of the translatour and the Ladye whome thir Triumphs are derected" by M.R. Cockburn ; "Ane sum̄arye and a sonett upon the Triumphs and the translator" by Thomas Hudson ; A poem by A, Colville.

Binding
Green morocco over boards with gilt tooled decorative borders. Gilt stamped shield with Academ Edinburg Guil Drummond Ab Hawthornden D.D.Q in centre of front cover and gilt stamped winged horse over laurel wreath with Hos Gloria Reddit Honores in centre of back cover. Compartmented spine with six raised double bands, gilt stamped decoration and brown morocco title label.. Gilt tooled turn ins. Gilt edges to text block. Original vellum covers pasted inside front and back covers, decorated in centre with gilt stamped oval with "I D F" surrounding.
