Scope and Contents
This fonds consists of Anne Davies's papers relating to her life as a medical student at the University of Edinburgh between 1939 and 1945, and to her training in three hospitals in the mid and late 1940s. It also includes photographs relating to class reunions and to the Edinburgh Graduate Association, of which she was president for a year.

Biographical / Historical
Anne Dollar Schofield (née Davies) was born in October 1921. She studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh between 1939 and 1945, and during this time she studied midwifery at the Royal Hospital of Edinburgh. After graduating in 1945 she worked as an assistant in General Practices in Polmont and Newcastleton, before working as a House Physician to Charles MacNeil, Professor of Childlife and Health at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh. In 1948-49, she moved to London to be House Physician in St James Hospital, Balham. She continued her a career as a physician, specialising in pediatrics.
Anne Davies married in 1951 to a London graduate in medicine, Graham Schofield, who later became general surgeon. She was very involved with alumni organisations, and was President of the University of Edinburgh Graduate Association for a year. Anne died in 2015.
