Biographical / Historical

Dr John Hill was appointed to the Chair of Humanity at Edinburgh University in 1775, and taught junior and senior Latin classes.

Custodial History

A bookplate featured in the front cover belonging to a James Nairne. An inked inscription featured in the front flyleaf with mention of a father-in-law, dated 1808, an a later date of 1840 associated with the initials "W. V". A pencilled date in the back cover "10-6-86."
