Biographical / Historical
Craig graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1694. He became Professor of Civil Law at the university in 1710 and remained in the post until 1732.

Front fly leaf includes ink signature of "Peter Halket / Petrus Halkett", followed by "Garlies".
A typewritten slip of paper inserted in the volume suggests the lectures are by James Craig, Prof. of Civil Law at Edinburgh University, though another note refutes this: "Not Edinburgh lectures. Dutch?"
