Biographical / Historical

Monro attended University of Edinburgh, recieving is MD in 1755. His father, Alexander Monro Primus (1697-1767), was foundation Professor of Anatomy at University of Edinburgh. Both held the position of University Chair of Anatomy.

Pencilled note included in the front fly-leaf, indicative of provenance, dated January 1954. An inked note included suggesting that the John S. Pakington referred to could be the 2nd Baron Hampton, 1826-93. Pencilled date in back cover, possibly of acquisition: "2-3-81."
