Manuscript volume entitled: "The History of Anatomy Containing a Brief Account of Its Rise and Progress From the Earliest age of the World to the present times", continuing: "Wherein mention is made of the several authors who made Considerable Discoveries or Improvements in this Science, and likewise a Character Given of their Writings. Together with an Appendix Concerning the use of Anatomy in the Several Arts and Sciences, with ane [sic] Index to the whole Being the Publick Lectures of Mr Alexander Monro Professor of Anatomy and Surgery and Fellow of the Royal Society". The index is on p. 283.

Biographical / Historical
Monro was foundation Professor of Anatomy at Edinburgh University, and was the first of the Monro dynasty of Anatomy Professors at the Medical School. He had previously attended classes at the University between 1710 and 1713, but did not graduate.
