Biographical / Historical
The Edinburgh Social Union (first called the Environment Society) was established by Patrick Geddes in 1884, who was then lecturing in Zoology at the University of Edinburgh. Kerr, also involved in the union, was awarded an honorary doctorate (LLD) by Edinburgh Univeristy for her contributions to social reform in 1920.
