Biographical / Historical

Samuel Colvil (or Colvill, or Colville), a Scottish satirist, published his Mock Poem in London in 1681. It was reissued in 1687 as The Whiggs supplication and in 1692 as The Scotch Hudibras; it was frequently reprinted in the 18th century.

Custodial History

Inside cover contains bookplate of William Nisbet of Dirleton (d.1822). Front fly-leaf contains ink signature of "Jo: Scott" and the date "1694." Ink inscription, front fly-leaf: "Ex libris Mr. Roberti Bennett Advocati."
