Ink note on item no. 7, written by L. W. Sharp (Keeper of Manuscripts, University of Edinburgh), dated 16 October 1929: "these manuscripts had been taken out by a librarian and were returned after his death by his descendants. For some time after this they had been mislaid. Now they have been dealt with - those presented by Drummond of Hawthornden bound and placed with the Drummond Collection (De.1.12), the others put loose in this case, Db.6.19. Note: 18, 22, 24 + 27 have been bound together in De.1.11".
