Munition Work Record of the Falkirk Iron Coy, Ltd.

Scope and Contents This is a photograph album recording the First World War work of the Falkirk Iron Company, a cast iron goods manufacturer that switched to the production of munitions in 1915. The photographer is not named. As a "Government Controlled Establishment", the Falkirk Iron Company produced 10,000 tons of munitions, many of these delivered by women, who feature prominently in the photographs. The map is entitled A New Map of Scotland for Ladies Needlework. The title is at the top of the map and the text is encircled by greenery and tartan and supported by a Highlander. It is noted as published in London by Laurie and Whittle, No.53 Fleet Street, 1797. The map is colour tinted and is presented in an oval setting. The rolled sheet is approximately 45cm x 50 cm.
