The medical notes were written 1850-1851. The lecturers were Sellers, Alison, and Home, though one lecture was by Southwood Smith. The notes are unsigned and there are two different sets of handwriting. The volume of manuscript is supported with a transcript - typescript document.

"Notgeld" albums containing small illustrated German and Austrian notes

Scope and Contents This collection is composed of two albums containing a collection of Notgeld, or 'emergency money' printed in Germany after all the low-value coins had vanished due to a shortage in metal during the inter-war period. Most notes are dating from 1921. They are called 'vouchers' rather than actual bank notes, and have an expiration date. They have very little actual monetary value: most of them are around 50 pfennige (pennies) ;...

Nouveaux souvenirs d'Holyrood

Scope and Contents

The unsigned letters, mostly from Edinburgh, were all written during November or December 1831. They describe a trip from Paris to Edinburgh, and life among the French refugees there. Although the last word has been obliterated, an inscription reads: 'Quoique l'auteur ne se nomme pas, tout le monde le reconnait pour M. le Baron de [...]'. On the inside of the front cover is pasted a note reading, 'Pour mes pauvres petites filles de France', and signed Louise.

One letter with transcript from John Hill Burton to My Dear Morton

Scope and Contents The manuscript letter dated 20 December 1878, signed 'J H Burton' to 'My Dear Morton', probably the Edinburgh solicitor Charles Morton. Burton regretfully declines an invitation as 'prudence forbids. I have not dined out in Edinburgh for 10 years fidning it dangerous [...] I felt always the worse when I dined with Russel or any other good fellow, so took a self denying ordnance'.
