That review was anonymous, but Lyell writes "I have just read …your review…for I presume you will allow me to infer from internal evidence that it is your's, as I thank you sincerely for the very handsome & cordial manner i which you have spoken of my two works". The addresse is very heavily inked over to be illegible.
