The Minutes relate to the formation of an Institute of Anthropology and a new university department of Anthropology within the Free Church College. A donation from Mr G R Gair of £1,000 helped to fund the set up. Some members of the Committee were also members of the Scottish Anthropological Society and it was agreed that the Society could rent one of the rooms of the Free Church College for an annual donation.
