Minutes of the Lothian Gay and Lesbian Switchboard (LGLS) and Predecessors, 8 Jan 1974 - 17 May 2006

 Sub-Series
Identifier: GD61/1/1

Scope and Contents

This sub-series contains minutes from meetings of the Lothian Gay and Lesbian Switchboard, including predecessor bodies the Edinburgh Befriending Committee, and Edinburgh Gay Switchboard. These records encompass the creation of the helpline and befriending service in 1974 through to 1997. There is one set of minutes relating to an Open Forum Meeting in 2006.

Each predecessor body is listed under a separate file and descriptions are then provided at item level within.

These minutes record discussions and decisions that formed what the service was, how it was organised, and how it was able to operate through voluntary membership and external funding.
