Scope and Contents

Correspondence relating to the lobbying of MPs ahead of the proposed Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 which reduced of the age of consent for men who have sex with men from 21 to 18.

Copies of letters sent by Edinburgh Gay Switchboard to Members of Parliament (MPs) and replies from MPs providing their thoughts on the Act, including confirmation on which way they intended to voted, are included.

Contact lists for MPs, Councillors, and the media are included as well as an extract from a speech by Edwina Currie relating to the Criminal Justice and Public Order Bill, dated 11/04/1994.
