Quote (The Big Issue in Scotland), 3 Feb 2000 - 9 Feb 2000

 Item
Identifier: GD61/11/2/4/98

Scope and Contents

Two quotes are included:

"This rubbish that it's all to do with ensuring that schools and local authorities launch gay propaganda - it's nothing of the sort. Many organisations that deal with children said to us that this law is inhibiting teachers from doing their jobs properly, in explaining to children the facts of life." Prime Minister Tony Blair on why Section 28 must go.

"When I was taught in school, I was shown a video of babies in buckets to highlight the 'evils' of abortion, under sanction from the Catholic Church. If a Catholic school can show a traumatic video about abortion, then what is the big problem about teaching about homosexuality?" Daniel Donaldson of Glasgow in a letter to the Herald.
