Scope and Contents

This collection contains material collected from across a range of different organisations and groups, largely printed, with a relationship to sexual health and education, or drug use. Material relating to HIV/AIDS is well represented within the collection.

These include a range of promotional printed material such as leaflets and postcards, resources relating to women and HIV/AIDS, and a range of educational material for training/outreach in sex education.

Conditions Governing Access

Public access to these records is governed by the UK Data Protection Act 2018, the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and the relevant version of the Scottish Government Records Management: Health and Social Care Code of Practice (Scotland). Whilst some records may be accessed freely by researchers, the aforementioned legislation and guidelines mean that records containing sensitive information on named individuals may be closed to the public for a set time.

Where records contain information relating to named deceased adults, they will be open 75 years after the latest date in the record, on the next 01 January. Records containing sensitive information on individuals below 18 years (living or deceased) or adults not proven to be deceased will be open 100 years after the latest date in the record, on the next 01 January. This material was collected by Joan Robertson across a career in sexual health education, especially HIV/AIDS education, and health promotion.
