This collection covers the emergence of both Scottish Action on Dementia and Alzheimer's Scotland from their respective parent organisations, and the later merger between the two.

It also includes the records of the Dementia Services Development Centre at the University of Stirling, a series of interviews with people living with dementia and Alzheimer's and their carers, records of major campaigns, publications, minutes of working groups and councils, and governing documents.

This collection is currently being catalogued and will be expanded upon as this work progresses.

Public access to these records is governed by the UK Data Protection Act 2018, the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and the relevant version of the Scottish Government Records Management: Health and Social Care Code of Practice (Scotland). Alzheimer Scotland - Action on Dementia (now Alzheimer Scotland) was a campaigning organisation and charity mobilising around the rights of individuals and carers living in Scotland who are affected by dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

The organisation grew out of a number of spin-off campaign groups from larger charities, in particular a merger between the two major Scottish campaign groups, Alzheimer's Scotland and Scottish Action on Dementia.
