The material is composed of: a notebook of Latin verses, with translations and notes, 1845-1850; a notebook of poems and other writings Casual cogitations in prose and rhyme, some dated 1845-1848, with other fragments loosely inserted, also an article by William Blair John Bachop: an early student-poet of New College, Edinburgh, 1907; and a notebook of poems and other writings Horae relaxationis, 1852.
