Scope and Contents

Two letters from William Robertson:

  1. At Lennel-house to Andrew Strahan, his Majesty's Printers, London. Summarised as 'Dr. Robertson respecting Hist. of Scotland & India etc', and annotated with many calculations. Is sending corrections of the first and second volumes of Charles V, and other parcels for printing. Tells of praise received on 'India' including that from Major. Rennell. Goes on to raise the issue of Strahan's subscription in the name of 'our university' to help purchase 'Boydell's great edition of Shakespeare', and how to pay this to Mr. Balfour. Noted as sent by McIntosh addressed to Bell and Bradfute, Booksellers, Edin. Dated 14 August 1791, and noted as 'Answered 20th August'.
  2. No location and recipient is unidentified. Relating to and giving opinion on the University of St Andrews affairs, with Lord Kinnoul as Chancellor and Principal Tullideph. Notes death of Condamine.
