MS CUM 1.1.1-1.1.6

Six volumes of lectures given by Rev. Professor Patrick Cumin or Cuming on Church History at the University of Edinburgh beginning in 1738. The lectures are written in Latin.

Volumes are bound in vellum and written in at least two different hands.

The first volume has a letter pasted into the front inside cover addressing the Librarian for the Theological Library, University of Edinburgh. The letter is from W.A. MacNaughton, M.D., D.P.H, Medical Officer of Health for the County of Kincardine and is dated Nov. 16th, 1923. In the letter, MacNaughton mentions that he has been in correspondence with Professors Paterson and MacKinnon. He describes the handwriting that he attributes to Professor Cuming as 'crabbed' and difficult to read.

MS CUM 1.2

Bound volume containing sermons preached by Rev. Prof. Patrick Cuming. A pencilled note on the first page says 'Patrick Cumming, St. Giles, Ed 1732-1756 Professor of Divinity & Eccles Hist in Univ Edin'. The first entry has the date 1747 pencilled in at the top right-hand corner of the page.
